Gardener’s Cottage Delight

Gardener’s Cottage Delight is an award-winning project showcasing the transformation of a Victorian cottage garden into a stunning outdoor retreat. The newly built orangery offers an inviting setting for both dining and relaxation, surrounded by lush, mature plantings and beautifully refurbished outbuildings.

The existing garden featured an abundance of mature trees and cottage-style borders, which provided the perfect foundation for the design. A Shepherd’s Hut placed at the far end of the garden creates a charming destination, with classic red brick pathways guiding visitors through the landscape.

Artistic sculptures are thoughtfully integrated throughout the space, serving as eye-catching focal points that can be admired from the cottage and along the garden paths and seating areas.

The planting scheme was carefully developed in collaboration with the client, focusing on the identification and repetition of existing plants to create a rhythmic flow along the borders. Attention was given to filling seasonal gaps in color and interest, while introducing structural elements to complement the lush perennial beds. This collaborative approach resulted in a harmonious design that blends traditional and contemporary planting styles.

Gardener’s Cottage Delight was honored with a Silver Award at the Association of Professional Landscapers Awards 2024, recognising its outstanding design and craftsmanship.
